Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is this HCCR program a form of insurance?
No, it is an alternative to the very high cost of health insurance where a member pays only for the healthcare he or she needs at the time he or she need it.
2. How much does it cost?
Thirty dollars a year,($30) which only covers the membership to highly discounted healthcare services and prescriptions. The cost of the services and prescriptions are in addition to the membership fee, but a member will recoup the membership fee a few times over with any visit to a doctor or the purchase any prescriptions. If this does not apply, see the Guarantee.
3. Are there monthly premiums?
No. The cost is $30 per year. If a member wants to renew the membership annually, the cost will be the membership price at that time. A person can elect not to renew his or her membership.
4. Does the program cover prescriptions?
Yes. An HCCR member, in addition to the many $4 prescription plans ($12 for a 90-day supply) being offered, will have access to highly discounted (usually Medicaid reimbursement pricing) on all drugs on the $4 plan, as well as all name-brand drugs.
5. Does this program apply to catastrophic events?
This is not insurance, so no, catastrophic events are not “covered”. Certain healthcare providers will conduct pricing at the HCCR program terms, (Medicare pricing) but the patient will be solely responsible for payment. Again, providers will work with patients on payment plans.
6. How will I know which healthcare providers and pharmacies are a part of the HCCR network?
A complete listing of HCCR network healthcare providers and pharmacies can be found in the members area of the web site.
7. What if I need to see a healthcare provider that’s not in the HCCR network?
While the HCCR network currently covers just about anything a person should need, there will be instances when a patient needs healthcare outside our network. Should this occur, HCCR will negotiate on the patient’s behalf with the provider, however no guarantees can be made. Usually such instances amount to the healthcare provider accepting the usual HCCR pricing and terms.
8. What if I don’t have my HCCR membership card when I go to see the healthcare provider?
Just have the provider call us to verify your membership and we will provide the provider your membership number. This also applies to needing services prior to a member having received his or her membership card.
9. What if, at my visit to the doctor, I encounter something for which I am unprepared to pay?
That’s not an uncommon occurrence. You can simply make arrangements with the provider for a payment schedule, and everything will be fine. Healthcare providers encounter this sort of thing all the time and are more than willing to work with patients to get these things handled.
